FARMERS' CO-OP. At our Okaiawa yards on Monday there was a small entry which all sold. At Hawora on Thursday we bad a record yarding, over 1100 head cattle were yarded and 2000 sheep. Buyers were in attendance and the sale went with a good swing all through. The cattle on account of Davidson's Estate showed plenty of breeding, and were eagerly sought after by graziers. There was also a particularly good enquiry for lambs, prices being In vendors' favor. At Kaponga. on Friday the yards were well filled. Competition was fairly kcon and everything sold well. We report a good sale. We quote: Light store pigs £2 12s, good lambs 19s (Id, fat cow-s £l2 15s to £lB, fat and forward do. £ll 109, forward do. £8 16s to £9 Ib, store cows £0 7s, bulls £7 to £9 5s to £l2, mixed weaners £1 10s, do. good £3 10s to £3 14s, weaner heifers £2 10s to £3 3s, do steers £2, dairy cows £2O. At Waverloy on Friday we report a big yarding of all classes of stock. Bidding was brisk and everything was sold at the hammer. NEWTON KING'S REPORT. At Douglas on 22nd inst. a very good yarding of both sheep and cattle wns met with steady enquiry throughout, the market maintaining a firm tone for all classes. Sheep: Two-tooth ewes 22s 3d, 4 to 0-tooth do. 29s lOd, 22s Gd; 6-tooth to f.f.m. ISs 3d to 21s, s.m. do. 10s 3d to 15s 9d, fat and forward do. 2Gs to 2Ss, 2-tooth wethers 245, 2 to 4-tooth do. 28s tid and 295, fat and forward do. 34s 6d, shorn lambs 14s 9d to 10s Gd, cull do. 5s to 9s Bd, ranns up to 2gns. Cattle: Mixed weaners £2 Bs, weaner steers 22s to 30s, small 18-month empty heifers £5 as, 2%-year heifers (springing) £l3 5s to £ls ss, good 20month steers £5 3s, poorer do. £4 7s, 2y»year do. £6 12s to £6 15s, 3 to do. £8 18s, store cows £ft ss, fat heifers (light) £S 12s Gd, bulls £4 5s to £9 10a . At Stratford on 23rd inst/, I report a good yarding of both sheep and cattle. Sheep were inclined to drag, although a. good portion of the yarding changed hands, bull market values being obtained throughout. Mixed aged owes 23s 7d, sm. do. 12s 3d to ICs 9d, cull do. 9s 3d to lis, lambs 12s Gd, rams Cattle sold with a steady tone, practically a full clearance being made in this section. A big offering of store and forward cows sold at Improved rates compared with late sales of this class. Light fat cows up to £lO 10s, forward conditioned do. £9 0s to £lO 7s Cd, store do. £0 15s to £8 17s Od. There was also a strong demand for good weaner heifers. Well-grown Holstein do. £4 2s, smaller do. £2 12s Gd, choice Jersey do. £6 6s to £7 Cs, Jersey cross do. £4 12s 6d to £5 17s Cd, mixed heifers £2 ss, weaner steers up to £2 7s, choice 18-month cmpiy Jersey heifers £9 Is, IS to 20-imonth mixed do. £6 8s 6d, 20month in-calf heifers £7 ss, dairy cows (springing) £l2 10s to £l6, In-mlik do, £ls, steers £7 9s. At Inglewood, on 24th, the cattle yarcrs were fully taxed, there also being a fair offering x of sheep. For the latter class' there was little enquiry at the hammer, although the bulk of tho yarding was eventually cleared. Shorn ewe lambs 17s, mixed sfeiod do. IGs 9d, medium do. 10s 4d to lis Gd, fat ewes 295, fat and forward do. 22s Od. Weaners sold satisfactorily and at improved rates. Jersey heifers still maintained high values. Very choice Jersey halfers £8 lis, do. £5 17s Gd to £6 17s 6d, mixed heifers £2 IGs to £3 7s, weaner steers 2fis to £2, mixed weaners 38s. For grown cattle I report a dragging sale, in-calf heifers made a big portion of the yarding, and except for well grown and quality sorts proved hard to quit. At Whangajnomona, on 24th inst., I held a sheep and cattle sale in conjunction with tho N.Z. Loan and M.A. Cq, I report a satisfactory yarding of good quality sheep, which sold readily throughout. Two-tooth ewes 27s lOd to 20s 2d. maiden 4 to G-tooth do. 30ft, 6-tooth do. 275, s.m. do. 12s 9d, fat do 27s to 30s, 2-tooth wethers 28a 9d, fat and forward do. 32s Gd, fat lambs 20s 7d, good store do. 15s 7d, rams up to 3gns, Cattle sold as follows: In-calf heifers £7 10s, 20-month empty heifers £6 Gs, dairy cows £l2, store do. £5.
At Rahotu. on.2Sth inst., I held a weaner fair in conjunction with my fortnightly cattle sale. Weaners were yarded in excess of advertised numbers and of very good quality throughout. Practically a full clearance wan made at the hammer, the market on tho whole showing a distinct Improvement compared with late sales. Weaners sold as follows: Jersey and Jersev cross heifers £5 lis to £5 17s 6d, Holstein (small) £2 14s to £3 4s, Shorthorn £3 18a, Mixed hoifers £3 IGs to £4 Is, very small do. 30s to £2, steers £2 38s to £3 ss, small do. £1 14s to £2 ss, mixed weaners £2 16s to £3 3s, weaner bulls £3 to £4, other classes of cattle realised: 2-year incalf heifers £8 2s Gd. 3-year do. (springing) £ll 15s, forward conditioned cows £9 Bs, storo do £6 10s. 20-month steers £4 15s to £5 ss, small do. £4 2s, 2%-year steers, £7 7s Gd, bulls £7 10s, fat and forward ewes l 255. At Kairaata, on 22nd inst, I conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr. W. A. Burrell. Buyers for both live stock and farm Implements and sundries attended in rer—'l 1 numbers, a most satisfactory clearance nf everything resulting. The empty heifers attracted outside buyers, the three lines eventually going to the Ngaere district.
