THE COST OF LIVING.
DEMONSTRATION AT WANGANUI. By Te-legiaph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. A big demonstration of protest against the cost of living and profiteering was held this afternoon, and was attended by about four, thousand people, representative of all walks of life in the town. The proceedings were most orderly, and were marked by earnestness. Speeches Avero delivered by Messrs. Veitcli, M.P., Foster (a representative of the railwaymen and returned soldiers), and the Rev. Blamires and Rev. Jenkin. A resolution was unanimously carried, protesting against the increased cost of living, and demanding that the Government take adequate measures at the earliest moment to give relief to the people -by preventing profiteering.
