A writer in the Sydney Bulletin says he once worked for a North Queensland newspaper owner who struck an idea for getting in longer overdue subscriptions. In bold type over the leader lie said: "We have sent an account to many of our subscribers 'who are in arrears with their payments, without receiving any reply from them. As we can only suppose that the cause of their failure to reply to our repeated communications is to be attributed to their death, we intend to publish a list of names shortly among the obituary notices. Any subscriber who does not wish to figure among the deaths will, therefore, please send us without delay an answer—and remittance." The cash name in with a rush, and' for the first time for months the boss paid the staff in full. Much has been heard recently about money in hides, but the possibilities of the rabbit do not appear to be equally familiar to the public. It is reported that a returned soldier went out after rabbits in the South with several mates and amassed a large quantity of skins of a value estimated at £7OOO. With the fruits of their enterprise the party came to the city and shipped the skins to London covering them with insurance to the value stated. The value was questioned nt the time by the officials of the company, but they were quite satisfied when the rabbiters paid a return visit to the insurance office, and showed them the invoice for the sale of the skins in London for .€22,000. ■I-ftrraclough's Nervine stops Tooth-
