KOPANE SALE.

SOME RECORD PRICES. The sub-divisional sale of the celebrated Kopane estate drew a large' gathering of representative farmers to Koilding on Tuesday, states the Mana\yatu Times. Expectations of record prices were were fully justified. The sections reached phenomenal suras, and the average price ftaid per acre, £ll4 10s, was a New Zealand record for any sale of sucli an area- The Kopane estate is situated on the Oroua river, and consists of some of New Zealand's finest pastoral country. This area had been sub-divided into 20 sections of from 30 to 48 acres, and by order of the owner, Mr. Lachlan T. McLean, these were disposed of through the agency of Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co. The drill hall at Feilding was packed to its doors, and the road outside was crammed with the cars of the visitors. Mr. N. Gorton conducted the sale and drew spirited bidding. Top price was £177 for a lot of 30 acres, bought by Mr. E. E. Short, after an exciting contest. The next was £1.54 for 32 acres, which went to Mr. Norman Short, while one 40-acre lot and one 30-acre lot went to Mr. J. R. Harper and Mr. H. Broofccr, respectively, at . £lsl an acre. When the Kopane sections had been sold, two larger areas at Cheltenham were auctioned on behalf of the same vendor. These two, each of about 250 acres, fetched £SO 10s per acre.
