The attendance was large Including a big number of Taranaki sports' Taranaki horses had a royal Innings, four winning races and paying good dividends. Racing was flrst-class, but favorites had a bad time. The proceedings opened with tho Scott Memorial Handicap. Nursing Sister was scratched and eight went to the post, Blndle being almost even money favorite. A splendid start saw Bonny Briar, on the rails, leading Affectation and a bunched lot. Astiled Into tho straight from Blndlp, with Epnont Park elrsina up. Kindle had Astinome settled at. the distance, hut. Park slipped through on the rails and snatched a luri.y victory. Astinome was a poor third. ' Then came All Over and Affectation. Half-a-doaen scratchings reduced the fleM for the Trial Plate to twentv-one, of which Emnyrean and Erin's Isle were the only two seriously supported. From a straggling start Sea Foam showed out clear, and led to the distance, where 'Empyrean passed her and won easily. Whetoke, Prodigal, and Erin's Isle finished next. Ail started in the Hack Hurdles, and a good hotting race saw Endure the public choice. Sweet Tipporary delayed the start, hut when the field settled down was leading Diamond Nap and Endure It was the same order passing the stand, with Ngakanul fourth. Four furlongs from homo Enduro rushed to the front and Ngaka.mil took second place. Endure held his own in the run home, winning very easily from Ngakanul, with Khartoum, Signorella, and Diamond Nap nest Ruddy. Nemallne, Irapuka. Catallnl. Empyrean and Rlngakaha dropped out of the Carnarvon Hack Handicap, but a dozen went to the post. Hepta was about even monev favorite, with Nursing Sister next. in demand When they got going Hepta, Taoanul and Tempo led a long strung out Beld. Tempo lolned Hepta at the end of two furlongs, and won with a bit In hand from the favorite, wllh Pnoanul and March On next. Nursing Sister was badly left and Rajput pulled up lame. Marqueteur, Roso Wreath, Demos, and Combustion were withdrawn from the Cup, leaving only Ave runners Lorematch was hacked as If It was all over Hyttus led Amberinc, Moutoa. Irnnova, Nobleman, and Lovemalch past the Stand. Hyttus was still clear of Moutoa Ivanova. and Amhertne along the back, with the top-weights sleeping in the rear. N'oblemafi's rider was the first to wake up but. Hyttus held his .own to the finish, winning nicely from I.ovematch, ivho finished fast and just beat Nobleman for second money.
