EMPIRE THEATRE. "THE LAND WE LIVE IN" THIS AFTERNOON AND TO-NIGHT. Commencing at the Empire Theatre this afternoon at 2,30 and again to-night at 8 p.m. is the magnificently produced film, "The Land We Live In," which lias recently been a big success in various towns of the Dominion. The picture is teeming with -exciting episodes! from start to finish, and every minute is full of interest. The film is one that can be equally enjoyed by adults. Portions of the picture, such as Mt. Egmont, New Plymouth Recreation Grounds, the Wanganui River, the Rotorua thermal regions, and the Buller and Otira Gorges are said to stand unequalled by views of scenery of any gther country in the world. The season, commencing this afternoon at 2.30, -will 1)9 for two afternoons and two evenings, and all the local schools will be present at the matinee sessions. Matinees for the schools will be held to-day and to-mor-row, and through the hearty co-opera-tion of the headmasters a large crowd of pupils is assured. The box plan is filling well at Collier's. EVERYBODY'S. LAST NIGHT OF "RUGGLES OF RED GAP." Funny enough as a book "Ruggles of Red Gap" is a scream on the latest EsBanav film. When the subject of the title is an English valet who changes masters aa the result of a game of poker and is taken out to Red Gap somewhere In U.S.A. in the retinue of an American Senator, infinite possibilities for rib-tiekling situations are opened up. "Ruggles of Red Gap" came originally from the pen of Henry Leon Wilson, some of whose stories have been immensely successful as film adaptations. This picture caused boundless enjoyment to a large audience last evening and shows again for the last time to-night. Supporting "Ruggles" is the seventh episode of "The Lightning Haider." THE PEOPLE'S. "A GIRL AT BAY" TO-NIGHT-When it comes to maintaining the oft-mentioned and necessary element of suspense, "A Girl At Bay," the Vitagraph feature, with Corimie Griffith, is more than equal to the occasion. In fact, the picture i 3 all suspense. There are no wild jumps in the plot, and there is a strong surprise at the finish. The bill includes gazette, interest, and comedy subjects. "THE KIDDIES IN THE RUINS." ZOE AT THE EMPIRE. The first appearance in this town of Zoe, the boy with 1000 eyes, in conjunction with Winifred La France's world entertainers, is announced for Saturday and Monday next at the Empire Theatre. Zoe, a hid 10 years of age, is described as a psychological marvel] and lias mystified the world by his marvellous gifts of second sight and amazing calculations, and patrons are invited to bring along their written questions for lii'n to answer. Winifred La Krance,. ivlio will be heard in a scries of catchy , Bongs, witty patter, and clever impersonations, has appeared in musical ioraodv atid pantomime in all the princ'pa! theatres of America and Australia. The other members of the company supporting Zoe are Charles Copeland, lightning sketch artist, Kenneth Surtell, society entertainer, and George Reeves, ventriloquist, who make up a combination that should not be missed- The first part of the programme will be occupied by the British film success, "The Kiddies in the Ruins," a popular picture by flip same producers as "The Better 'Ole" and released as a companion to that great success. Prices of admission will be D.C. 3s and stalls 2s (plus tax). The box' plans are now open at Collier's.
