THE MURDER AT CORK. I THE SEARCH BY SOLDIERS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, Received March 25, 12.15 a.m. London, March 23. In the House of Commons, Sir. T. P. O'Connor, adverting to his statement reflecting upon soldiers searching the Lord Mayor's house in Cork, said the subsequent explanation of Mr. J. I. Macpherson (Chief Secretary for Ireland) disposed of his remarks. The explanation, moreover, did the officer concerned great credit.—lmperial Service. A CONFLICT IN DUBLIN. TROOPS FIRE ON A CROWD. London, March 23. • A serious affair has occurred in Dublin. The crowd followed troops leaving a theatre in the city. A collision took place near the Portobello barracks where the troops fired, killing a man and woman and wounding several. A large force of troops occupied Portobello bridge, to prevent the crowd passing over. They fired several volleys after which consternation and panic- reigned.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Association.
