VTSIT TO NEW PLYMOUTH.' ARRANGEMENTS FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN. A meeting of the New Plymouth Com* mitt.ee having charge of the arrangements for catering for visiting school children to New Plymouth on the occasion of the. visit of the Prince of Wales was held last night, Mr. P. J. H. White (convenor) presiding. While only children of the third standard and above that will be brought in to the celebrations, it has been estimated there will be about 1800 to provile for, and of these about 070 are expected to come by train from country districts. The Education Department is allowing a certain amount per child for catering, and the Board Is to be aaked to circularise all school committees, suggesting that each child should brioK* enough provisions for two meals- Liqifi# refreshment in the form of tea or cocoa will be provided by the local committee/ and the children will be assembled at the Coronation Hall for meals. The following sub-committees were set up: Catering, Messrs. P. .T. H. 'White, R. J. Deare, J. D. Sole, J. W. Hajdtjlf, iind R. 0. Ellis; marshalling, Messn. P. J. H. Wlvite, H. A. Stratford, cud school teachers, and Mr. R. Day. It was decided also that the children from each school should wear a distinguishing badge in the form of a fib« bon, so' that they could he eaßily identi- ■ tied by teachers and others in charge of them. It was also decided to ask th» W.C.T.U. to undertake the charge of depots for lost children in Pukekura Park and at Whitelcy Hajl.
