LAND FOR SOLDIERS.

BALLOT AT NEW PLYMOUTH. A ballot for three opened for selection as renewable leases by returned. soldiers took place at the Lands Office, New Plymouth, yesterday afternoon. Two of tlu sections are in tho Totoro Survey District, Waitomo County, and the other in the Tangitu Survey District, Olnira County. There were a large number of applicants for all the sections, and many were present to witness the ballot, which took place in the presence of the Commissioner of Crown Lands and the members of the Board. The result was as follows: Lot I.—Section 7, block 5: Area 200 a«res 2 roods; capital value £710; halfyearly rent, £l4 4s. Situated on the Upper Olmra Road within about six miles and a-lialf of Ongame railway station. W. D. H. M'Millan, Maungaraki, Petone. Twenty-six applicants. Lot 2.—Section 1, block 6: Area, 230 acres 2 roods; capital value, £930; halfyearly rent, £lB 12s. Situated on the Wairere Road, within one mile and aquarter of Aria township, where there is a school, dairy factory, post office, stores, etc. J. A. Thompson, Piopio. Fifteen applicants. Lot 3.—Section 2 ,block G: Area, 165 acres 0 roods 23 perches; capital value £620; half-yearly rent, £l2 Bs. Situated on the south side of Wairere Road within one mile and a-half of Aria township. Geo. Phatt, Te Kuiti. Seven applicants.
