FOOTBALL.

CLIFTON'S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above club was held on Friday evening last. Mr. D. 'George (vice-president) took the chair, and 'congratulated the ('lab on its splendid 'achievements last year, two teams winning the championship, and one team being Tun-ners-up. The coming season ' looked particularly bright, and the club would be able to put strong teams in the Held. The committee's report stated that the senior team won the Saturday competition, but wero defeated in the play-off tor the northern division championship. For the first time in the hißtory of the club the first juniors won the championship of the province for their class, and the Heeond juniors njso won the championship of their grade. Messrs S. D. George, O. Stewart, Kupe, J. Taylor, W. Soffe, J. Manu, P. Fuller, and P. Tate were congratulated on being Included in representative matches. Memorial Gates.—A3 the result of the subcommittee's efforts to'carry out the proposal to commemorate those members of the club who made tho supreme sacrifice, and to place on record the names of oil members who took part In the great war, a splendid set of gates, suitably engraved, now stand at the Stafford Street entrance to the Domain, a fitting honor to those concerned and a credit to the club and the town generally. Appreciation was expressed of the time and labor given by the members of the committee, and to all who contributed or otherwise cave assistance in this matter. Playing Ground.—Referring to the trouble to keep the playing ground clear of spectators, the imatter was passed on to the attention of the incoming committee, as both the Rugby Union and the Referees' Association asked for assistance in this direction. There was Also need for more direct and energetic control of the ground, and a strong recommendation was made in favor of the club having representation on the Domain Board in order to control the different sports concerned. Thanks were accorded to Mr. T. Buchanan, who has represented the club for many years us a delegate and a member of the executive, for his past services.

The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P.; president, Mr. R. Tate; vice-president, Mr. D. George; selectors, seniors, Mr G. Marshall; juniors, Mr. A. Lash; second juniors, Mr.'o. N. Skelton; committee, Messrs. Telfnr, A. Lash. S. George, Q. N. Skelton, M. Cain; auditor, Mr. L. H, SampBon; delegates to Kuby Union, Messrs, 0. George (seniors), and C. H. Tate (juniors); secretary, Mr. H. Brabant; assistant secretary, Mr. F. 0. MeDavltt. It was decided to nominate three teams the same as last year, and the secretary Is to to, make inquiries as to Lepperton's Intentions. Captains to bo selected by the teaims. Subscriptions, playing members 2s Gd, honorary ss. It was resolved to write to the Star Club risking for a match against Clifton on opening day. It was resolved that It be a recommendation to the . incoming committee that dele* Kates be appointed to wait on the Domain Board with a view of getting a better control of the ground. WAIMATE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Walmate Football Club was held on Saturday night, Mp. J. S. McKay presiding. A votb of sympathy with Mr. H. L. Vine in the death of his wife »was carried, members atoadSng. The balance-sheet, showing a. credit balanco of £52 17.s fid. was adopted. This was an improvement of £2l) over last year. Officers were elected as under:—Patron, Mr. A. G.
