There wa9 a big yarding of fat sheep and an average one of lambs and fat cattle, ;md an overflow yarding of store sheep. The market for' all fat Btock was good for prime, but slack for secondary. Store sheep.—A big yarding, approximately of 35,000, including lines of Southland, Marlborough, and North Island sheep, for which the demand was spiritless. A big proportion were passed well conditioned. Runners to £8 2s od, ordinary vealers £3 12s 0d to £4, calves 7s 6d to 22s Cd. Pigs.—A medium entry. The demand was somewhat slack, prices easing. Heavy baconers £7 5s to £8 12s 6d, Qfdinary £5 15s to £C 10s (average price lid per lb), heavy porkers £5 to £5 10s, ordinary £4 5s to £4 15s (average price Is,to Is o%d), choppers £5 to £B. Store pigs.—Moderate ontry, and a decided easing In values, equal to 15s per head. Best stores £4 to £4 12s, medium. £2 15s to £3 7s Id, simall 30s to 42a, weaners 20s to 28s. AT BURNSIDE. Dunedin, March 17. All deportments were well supplied with stock at the Burnside sales to-day. On account of the large yardlngs and somewhat congested state of the local freezing chambers, prices were easier than those lately ruling. The yarding of sheep wa3 a particularly heavy one, being the largest and showing the best quality of' offering for a long period. Pigs, as usual, sold well. Fat cattle.—Two hundred and thirty-four yarded, which large entry contained several pens of well-finished bullocks. Tho sale opened at about 10s per head below last week's rates, and maintained this level until more than halfway through, when the demand fell away, and at the conclusion prices were 20s to 30s below the opening rates. Prime bullocks £2l to £24 10s, medium to good bullocks £l6 to £l9, light and unfinished £l3 upwards, prime cows and heifers £ls to £l7, medium to good £l2 to £l4, light and aged £9 upwards. Store cattle.—Another excessively large yarding was offered. The bulk of the yarding comprised young and backward cattle. Owing to the anticipated dry weather conditions now ruling the demand was very slack and difficulty tws experienced In Quitting anything except choice kinds. A large number of pens were passed in unsold and those which were disposed of suffered a substantial reduction on lato rates. Sheep.—An exceptionally large yarding, a total of 4000 head being offered. The quality on (lie whole was good, many pens containing animals in prime yarding. The deimand for all classes was somewhat easier, and prime sheep were sold from la 6d per head and secondary and inferior sheep from 2s Cd per head below last weok's rates Prime wethers made from 42s to 48s, medium 37s to 41s, lighter kinds from 28s upwards, extra prime hoavywclght ewes made up to 45s 9d, prime 37s to 41 9s, medium 30s to 30s. Fat lambs—A largo yarding, numbering 1672 head of medium quality. For all prime Ilncß suitable for export the demand was good at prices equal to last week's rates. Prices ranged from 18s for inferior sorts up to 34s per head for best heavyweight lambs. Plgs.~A moderate yarding. A good demand existed far small pigs, suckers realising from 28s to 38s per head. There was also a good demand for prime baconers and porkers values for which were equal to late ruling rates.
