A BIG SCHEME. By Telegraph.—Press Allocation Wellington, March IjL The City Council has adopted engineer's proposals for increasing the * water supply and resolved to make the works urgent. They involve two tunnels through the hills to bring in water from » the Orongorongo river, coating £IOO,OOO, ■ extra mains and other expenses bringing fl the total to £337,000. ■ Even this will not provide for more than 130,000 people, and the engineer considers work 'will later on have to ba undertaken in the upper part of the TT'itt H River, probably in cwuwction with ebe* H trical work*.
