The members of the Baptist Church, New Plymouth, have united in a Ueavtv and unanimous invitation to the Rev. A. H. Collins, from Australia, to become their minister. Mr. Collins, on the completion of his college course in the Old Land, was for a few vcars the pastor of a. Baptist Church in 'Birmingham, where considerations of health led him to come to New Zealand, and upon arrival here he accepted the charge of the Church at. Ponsonby, Auckland, and whilst there, owing to the interest he manifested in labor matters, was appointed as the lirst chairman of the Auckland Conoilintion Board. After leaving that city he went to Australia, and for the last eleven or twelve years has been the minister of one of the larger Baptist Chnirohes in South Australia. To the great regret of his congregation, he recently relinquished his office, and has come across to New Zealand to visit a daughter and some friends resident here, and having received the very pressing and urgent call from New Plymouth has decided to remain in the Dominion- Mr. Collins is a very effective speaker, and the members of the local Baptist Church are to he congratulated upon having secured the services of so broad-minded and able a preacher, and may very hopefully look forward to a period of growth and prosperity.
