The Opunake Racing Club's meeting promises to attract a large attendance at Pthama to-day, and judging by the class and numerical strength of the field carded, a I splendid day's sport will bo served up. Proceedings open with the Hack Hurdle Racs, 1% miles, and tho field of flfteeu compares more than favorably with the flelda drawn in hack hurdle events anywhere. It is expected that investments will take a wide range, as Polthogue, Army Service, Te Toa. Applaud, Paul Moore, Cheddar, and others have all nroved their ability over fences. Slmonides should beat Esthonia at level weights in the St. Patrick's Handicap, but Incoma and Kgmont Park have only to start to ensure a spirited contest. It is hard to estimate the likely strength of the President's Handicap, one mile, but Self Alliance and ttlsingham look to be in a class a bore their opponents. Probably the biggest Held of the day will contest the Farewell Handicap, five furlongs, ftnd earlier running may shed some light on the result. Income and Marble Bar are likely to run prominently if,started. E. George took Madam Ristorl and Cadet to Opunake yesterday in Mr. Fred Bremlehl's motor lorry, which was splendidly fitted up as a horse box.
