H. B. WARNER IN '•'THE PAG AX COD." One of tile gorgeous settings in "The Pagan God." which shows to-night and to-i.-iorrow at Everybody's, is a Chinese garden. The producers secured permission from the owner of one of the most wonderful Chinese gardens in California to we it for the screen. This gripping drama of the Mongolian conspiracy, with H. 11 Warner admirably cast as an American diplomat, lias _ a thrilling climax'. The conspirator,* have captured Bruce when they find that lie is in possession of their secret idol, and are in.-t about to strangle him, when he succeeds in reaching his gun. shoots out the light, and after a desperate battle tight-! his way to the window of the secret room and escapes. Another episode of "Tii:> Lightning Haider" alr-o shows with this programme. "THE EXPLOITS OF U :!.V A war film, which is described as the most thrilling and asionKmng yet seen in New Zealand. ''The Exploits of U will be shown at Everybody's and the People's next .Friday and Saturday nights and also at Everybody's ms'tince on Saturday afternoon. This picture was photographed by a Herman operator from the after deck of a liun submarine, which ravaged the Allied shipping in the Mediterranean. The subject depicts the pursuit and shelling of several big ocean cargo carriers, their eventual surrender, the crews taking to the boats, the sinking of (he victims by shell fire, bombs or by torpedo, and I heir terrible plunge into the depths. All phases of the film are exceptionally vivid, and the exciting warfare is cai- ] ciliated to stir young and old. "The Exploits of I" Ilo" was seized in Germany by the. British Government, from whom it -was purchased at a high figure. Its bona-fides are guaranteed, but. those who view the screening will need no endorsement of its genuineness. Arrangements have been completed to screen this piclure at both Everybody's and the People's each night and the actual screening times at each theatre will be advertised on the nights of showing. Tiicre will also be a complete change of feature and minnorts each night that "The Exploits of U 35" is being screened.
THE PEOPLE'S. The charming romantic play, "The Little Comrade," starring dainty Vivian Martin, and concluding to-night, at t.hr> People's presents this winsome little actress at .her very brightest. Vivian is here seen as a farm-er-ette in silk overalls, and the picture contains some fine scenes, as well as a delightful vein of humor. The supports include a beautiful Burlingham scenic, pictograph, and comedy. Emmy Wchlen, the noted ''Metro" star, .heads to-morrow's neu' bill in "The Amateua Adventuress," a 5-act comedy-romance, a story of breezy comedy and heart-appealing adventure.
| : ' THE DANDIES, The Dandies played to a good house at the Empire Theatre last night for i|iie concluding concert of their. New Plymouth season, The programme was a complete change from that of the two preceding nights, and met with a very good reception. Douhle encores, which were demanded of several of the artists, showed the extent to which their work was appreciated. The party play at Waitara to-night, for one night only.
