PATEA DEFEAT HAWERA. Patea succeeded In defeating the Hawera team on Saturday at Hawera by 81 runs, mainly owing to the splendid stand made for the first wicket by Harding and Cunningham, who came within three of their opponents' tonal before befng separated, Cunningham eventually retiring with a splendidly played innings of 38, not out. Weir 30 and Martin 17 also hit freely, whilst Cunningham and McDonagh did well with the ball. - For Hawera, Nellson (20) and Elltott (10) were the only players scoring double figures, the total score being 64, as against Patea's 145.
MANAWATU v. POVERTY BAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Glsbomc, Last Night. The Hawke's Cup cricket match, Manawalu v. Poverty Bay, was continued to-dry in fine weather. Requiring 101 runs to win, Poverty Bay made 104 for the loss of two wickets, thus winning by eight wickets. Drake mode 45 not out, and Blair, 25, not out. For the visitors Harrison secured one wicket for nine runs, and McVlcar, one for eighteen.
