PUNGAREHU, (From Our Own Correspondent). Harvest Festival services were held In the Methodist Chu.-ch on Sunday, the 7th Inst, , the pulpit being occupied by tho Rev. E. D. M. Kins, who delivered an appropriate sermon. The church was nicely decorated, and fruiti, vegetables, bread and rallies were there in abundance. On the following Monday evening a sale of produce took place at the I local public hall, and realised exceptionally good prices, a pleasant evening being spent by all. A social and dance, arranged by the supporters of the Pungarehu candidate for the Opunake Queen Carnival, tool: place in the hall on Tuesday evening, the Itth, and though the weather was scarcely what might be wished for on such an occasion, the dance proved most enjoyable; Mrs. E. Pope provided the music and Mr. .T. Orbell contributed extras. Mr. T. Barrett acted as M.C, A really first-class supper was provided. Delightful weather prevailed at Warea on Wednesday last for the sports held by the hall committee In order to augment the hall funds. The gathering was pronounced a great success. The concert and dance that followed In the evening was as great a succesß as the sports programme had proved. The committee set up to make arrangements regarding the picnic and sports meeting In connection with the opening of the Cape Egmont Dairy Company's new store are receiving encouraging support. At a meeting of the School Committee It was decided that, the school children's annual picnic take place on April 10. Fishing has been splendid off the coast at Pungarehu lately, and large hauls of shaTk and schnapper have been made by the local Maoris. Another boat has been housed on the beach end at Bailey Road, Warea, In readiness for a favorable opportunity. The supplies at the local dairy factory are now showing signs of decreasing, with tho result that another employee has been paid off during the past week. air. Stanley Durbrldge, employed by the same company, Is leaving the district shortly, having been engaged by the Taranakl Education Board.

Miss M. Barrett tins returned to Pungarehu after a most enjoyable hpllday in South Taranakl. Mr. D. O'Drlscoll, who met with his accident recently, has returned from hospital, but it will be some time yet before he is able to work.
