D.O.M. WINNKR IN COURT. ONE SENT TO GAOL. Ey Teleiraph.—Press Association. Well'-igton, Last Night. .Tames Harold O'Brien, an ex-serge,ant of the 2nd Canterbury Regiirient, who was awarded the D.C.M. at Messincs, and other decorations, came before the Chief .Justice for sentence to-day on nine charges of stealing luggage, to which he had pleaded guilty.

The evidence of Dr. Gilmer was that the. prisoner was suffering from neurasthenia, the result of wounds and shellshock.

The Judge adjourned the ease for one month for prisoner to be under medical observation.

Charles Frederick Hodgson, who had pleaded guilty to three charges of false, pretences for offences committed in 1015, also came up for sentence. He served with the Australian New Guinea Force, and was afterwards discharged. He came to New Zealand and joined the Expeditionary Force, and saw active service. He returned on January 28th, and was arrested.

His Honor said the prisoner had a. bad record, and if lie came before the Court again he would be declared an habitual criminal. A sentence of six months' imprisonment was imposed on eacli of the charges, the terms to be concurrent.
