MEAT EXPORT INDUSTRY.

DOMINION CONFERENCE. ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION. A further conference.of delegates representing the producers' and' other interests connected with the meat export industry of the Dominion will be held shortly at Wellington to discuss matters vitally affecting the industry It will include representatievs of agricultural and pastoral associations, Farmers' Union, Sheepovvners' Federation, freezing companies, dairy companies, and such other delegates as the Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture desire to invite. The principal subjects that will be dealt with will be: (1) The present position of the meat export business, especially in regard to congestion both in New Zealand- and Britain, and the delays that are occurring in the arrival of refrigerated shipping; (2) If it is desirable to extend the present period of the meat requisition in the interests of the community; (3) The question of chipping services and of the feeling expressed by some farmers' regarding the establishment of an independent shipping line. The Prime Minister has already arranged to have, the shipping position discussed with the shipping companies at present trading to New Zealand with a view to obtaining information to place before the conference.
