CARE OP WIFE IN IRELAND. ORDER AGAINST NEW ZEALANDER.By Telegraph.— P«m Association. Wellington, Last Night An unusual application for the maintenance of a woman and a ehild in Irefad was made by the police at the toigistrate's Court. Considerable interest attached to the case, as it was the R'st of its kind in New Zealand. A young man, who was married in Belfast in Ml 5 and came to New Zealand the same year, contributed nothu'lg with the exception of his military [allotment while on astiva service with ithe N.Z.E.F. in 1&1T An order was |made at Belfast in Jus absence for flio payment of 14s weekly towards the support of his wife and child, and the ipoliee sought, under sections 17 and 18 Inf the Destitute Persons Act, to have the order enforced. Defendant opposed on the grounds that he was bringing his wife arid child to New Zealand, but Mr. Page, R.M., made an order for £l3 for past maintenance and 30s weekly If the wife refused to come to the' Dominion the matter may be re-opened.
