MISSING.
WELL-KNOWN PALMERSTON RESIDENT. Considerable anxiety is felt in Palmerston North over the disappearance of a well-known resident, Mr. P. A. Gillies, who has not been seou since February Mr. Gillies was for several years farming in the Otaki district. He afterwards sold out, and for some time past has been living with his wife and two children in Masfiey Street, Palmerston North- He went to stay for a few weeks with Mr. Hume, at Tolcoinaru, and on the date mentioned he, with Mr. Hume, motored into Palmerston North, arriving about 10 a.m. When they parted it was arranged (hat Mr. Gillie's should meet Mr. Hume at 4 p.ra , but from that time nothing whatever has been heard of him. Some time ago Mr. Gillies had a leg broken, and as it did not set properly it had to be broken again and reset, and this caused him a good deal of pain. Search parlies have been out for the past week, and now flic police are engaged in dragging the Manawatu River in case Mr Gillies has been drowned. He was about 4S years of age, with dark hair and moustache, and wore a pepper-aud-salt suit. He walked with a slight limp.
