BAND CONTEST.
THE CONCLUDING DAY. KAIKORAI WINS THE QUICKSTEP. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The band contest concluded on Saturday. Ideal weather prevailed for the quick-step championship and over twenty thousand were present in the Caledonian grounds, the takings exceeding £SOO. The financial success of the contest is assured. Results:— Military display and quickstep, first prize £SO, second £25, third £lO, fourth £s.—-Kaikorai 20S points 1, Woolston and Wanganui 2<S5 each 2. The band of the Second South Canterbury Regiment, 250, was next. The other competitors were: Invercargill Hibernian 855}, Palmerston North 249}, Ninth HftwkVa Bay 241, Tenth Regimental Blenheim 236}, Auckland City 235, St. Kilda 233, Twelfth Nelson Marlborough 229, Waterside Workers (Wellington) 229, First Canterbury Regimental 227}, Dominion Band Invercargill 227,' Dannevirke Municipal 224}, Lyttelton Marine 221%, Winton Municipal 196}, Christchurch Tramway 191. The B flat cornet championship (solo) wa9 won by B. Wills (Invercargill Hibernian) with 40. H. Fox (Woolston) was next with 44, and W. H. Osborne (Bth South Canterbury) third, With 40. The recalls wero:-S. Williams (Woolrton) 38. J. McGrath (Wanganui Garrison)' 32, M. K. Mara (2nd South Canterbury) 28. A DEAD HEAT IN GRADE A. | Dunedin, March fl. I In the A Grade Kaikorai and Wanganui Garrison are equal with 283 points each, South Canterbury Regimental, 276 points being third, and Invercargijl Hibernian Band with 270 .points fourth.
