He was staying with a friend at Brightwater, and his bedroom was entered while he was asleep. He received * severe blow on the side of his head with a heavy object, which caused a large wound. He was able to get up, Ud he grappled with the intruder, who, however, escaped. Mr. Stapleton was about on Saturday. Bobbery is believed to be the object of the assault, but nothing was taken.
