INGLEWOOD.
SUCCESSES AT THE SHOW. (From Our Own Correspondent). It speaks well for the grit of the inhabitants of that part of the Taranaki County which is now known as the Moa Riding, hut which will, with the passing of this current month of March, become Inglewood County, and it augurs well for the future of that area, that at the now just passed Taranaki Metropolitan A. and P. Society's Show fifteen exhibitors, residents of this district, secured a total of fifty-five awards. These were won as follows:
In the Ayrshire section, Messrs. Olson Bros., of Egmont Village, with representatives of their noted Woodlands herd, received one first, four seconds, and 3 third prizes and two v.li.c. awards. Mr. L. B. Olson obtained one first, one third and one v b.c. award, while to Mr. G. Marsh one first was adjudged for a grade Ayrshire heifer. In the Jerseys, Mr. A. A. Ward, with exhibits from his Mlro Meadows' herd, as usual made a big score, viz., five firsts, one second, and four third prizes, one championship, two reserve championships, one v.li.c., and two b.c, or a grand total of sixteen awards. Other scores for Jerseys include the 11. B. Curtis' estate, two thirds; .T. Klenner one he: and E. O'Sullivan and Sons two V.h.c, awards. In the draught horse classes Mr. A. Krazer, of Ratapiko, was awarded one second and two third prizes. In lighter horsos and competitions Mr. R. Ritchie, of Inglewood, took one first and three second prizes, and for pigs he secured two first prizes and one secondMr. S. D. Campbell took third prize with his trotter. Miss G. \V Tarry secured two first prizes for best lady driver, and best harness horse over 15.1 hands. Mr. A. T. Archibald took three prizes in the same section for harness horse, and to suitably round off the tally. Miss Eileen Xorris got first prize and Miss Anaiie Norris second for their pet lambs. Some readers may say all this amounts to nothing, and gives no proof of particular grit in the exhibitors, but those who say so know very little about the work, worry and apparent waste of time attendant on success—aye, and disappointment at non-success —in these undertakings. Let such grousers try it (there's plenty of room, for more tryers will lie welcomed) and those who now belittle (he efforts of their successful confrei's will soon change their tune.
