FIRE BRIGADES.

DOMINION CONFERENCE. THE BUSINESS CONCLUDED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hastings, Wednesday. The United Fire Brigades' Conference concluded to-day. It was decided that the amount of the subsidy that should be asked from the insurance companies he altered from £SOO to £IOOO Regarding standard uniforms, the secretary said that the executive had been making exhaustive enquiries, but had found only one firm who were able to talk business. The executive were getting some up-to-date designs from the States, and they had got some from England, but at present prices, and the scarcity of material, it was thought bet. ter to defer the matter and allow the executive to report to the next conference, when something definite would be brought down. Superintendent Crosse (Hamilton), on behalf of his brigade, invited the Association to hold the next conference at Hamilton, provided there was no demonstration. He was afraid his brigade could not provide for a demonstration. Napier's claim to the next conference and demonstration was acknowledged. Failing Napier being able to provide for a demonstration, it could probably be held by invitation, either at Dunedin or Christehureh.
