General Hubert Cough, jn an interview, said the English people had not yet begun to realise that the Peace Treaty was thoroughly un-English. It was equivalent to hitting men when they were down. They did not want revenge; they wanted friendliness and a League of Nations in which Germany, Austria, and Soviet Russia could find a place.
