It is authoritatively stated that the' Allies have agreed that a German Court of Justice shall be permitted to try a number of selected war criminals as test cases. It was decided- to furnish Germany with a list of forty-six names, Britain choosing seven, France twelve. Belgium fifteen,.ltaly four,' Poland and Roumania the remaining eight. Britain's list mostly concerns submarine atrocities. The cases chosen are plain and straightforward, in which the accused persons are obviously guilty of the vilest violation of the "law governing warfare. If the test case* are properly carried out it is probable that the Allied lists, comprising eight (hundred criminals, will be drastically reduced. The Allies' legal representative will attend the trials to ensure no favoritism, and the production of all evidence.—Reuter Service.
