Mr. 0. Havi'ken, M.P., states the Argus, hopes shortly to take up his residence in Kltlmm. Mr. B. 11. Nolan and family, of Hawera, are on the Athenie, which arrives in Wellington on Friday. Mr. Ken. Webster, who is now farming in the Waimarino district, is On a visitto his old home in New Plymouth. The death occurred on Saturday of Mr. James Stronach, a prominent , figure in agricultural and pastoral circles in Otago, Southland, and Canterbury for the past 4"> yeat's. The death occurred at Hamilton on Friday of Mrs. Rogers, wife of Mr. (J. Rogers, carrier, of Hamilton, nnd late of Puniho, Taranaki. A particularly sad. feature is that a child died la3t week. A husband c.nd six children are left. Sergeant Wade, who has been at the Wellington Central police station as acting Senior Sergeant for some time, is to be transferred from Wellington to take charge of the Wairoa station (Hawke's Bay) says a telegram from Wellington.) Mr. A. J. Curnavon, of Rugby, England, is at present in Wellington'. MrCurnavon, who* left New Zealand for Scotland in 1002, intends to remain a year in the Dominion, visiting relations and friends. The Rev. Father Plielan, who has been transferred from the Masterton parish to Carterton, was farewelled at a social. In presenting Father Plielan with a purse of sovereigns, Mr. S. O'Regan mentioned the good work done by him at Featherston during Hie influenza epidemic of 1!)1S, when he was a chaplain at the camp. Brigadier-General Melville, commanding the Wellington Military District, was in New Plymouth yesterday. He leaves New Plymouth by the mail train this morning. The General is a familiar figure to many in this district, as in tiic later years of the war he commanded the First Brigade, including the First and Second Taranaki. Mr. Griffith Roberts, nn old identity of Ohristclmreh, died on Saturday at' his late residence, Addington, Shortly after arriving at Lytteßon in ISVK, tiie late Mr. Roberts went to il.e Levels estate, Timaru, as engine-driver and implement mechanic. He was one of the earliest members of the Ohristehurch Cambrian Society, of which he had been president. Mr. Edward Randell. for many years oil the stall' of the Land and Income Tax Department, died at Wellington on Saturday. Deceased was horn in Wellington ">7 years ago. He was educated at Mowbray's School, Thorndon, and, on leaving it. he obtained a position with Messrs Izard and Bell, solicitors. He joined the I.and and Income Tax. Department soon after its establishment, and remained on the staff until he was compelled, owing to illhealth and failing sight, to give up active work. For live or six years before lu's death he was totally blind. The marriage took place at St. Mary's Church (Xew Plymouth) yesterday of Miss Ilelene Edith Lcfi'nran, daugiiter of .Mrs. Lcffnian, London, to Mr Herbert Leslie Simpson, son of Mrs. Simpson, of New Plymouth. The Rev. F. (! Ilarvie performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by Dr. Leatham. looked charming in a frock of white georgette over white tafl'etas, and e. wedding veil fastened with orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of roses, cosmos, and maiden hair. The hridesmai.. was .Miss Dorothy Simpson. Mr. Trevor Simpson, of Auckland, attended his brother as best man. After the wedding a small reception wns held at tlu residence of Mrs. Simpson, only members of t'je family being present. •
