The weather was fine and sunny and there was a largo attendance for the second day of the Victoria Bacing Club's autumn meeting. Alnwick just won the Elms Handicap from the early leader Battle Wrack. The favorite, Tangalopma, was sixth. Alnwick was trained by Chris. Moore for Its lady owner, Mrs A. Chlmslde. MldlMi, ridden by McLachlen, finished first In the Ascot Vale Stakes, and won narrowly from the penalised Gosslne Haton.. Midilll cost Mr. Norman Falkhier £550 as a yearling. There was a great finish in the Australian Cup. Macadam made a fine run and won in the last fifty yards from an outsider, Tenteirfleld. Eastcourt was a good third. Menin was beaten at half n mile and ran third to last. Kllfllnn was dangerous at the straight entrance. Macadam cost its owner, Mr. S. Mackay, £I7OO. It won the Perth Cup In 1918. ■T. At the Nowmarket yearling sales there was keen competition and good prices. One hundred and seven lots were sold for £24,244. Mr. Scully (Sydney) paid 1200 guineas for a full brother to Gloaming. Mr. Chlshokn (Sydney) gave the same figure for a iVilkln-Colosu. filly. Other Wilkin youngsters brought 900, 600, and 523 guineas respectively. Three Woorak colts brought 810, SOO, .and 600 guineas respectively: a Tresardy-Polska colt 625; Saintuson-Auraria's daughter colt 775.
