WEATHER IN FEBRUARY.
THE XEW PLYMOUTH FIGURES. (Record at Pukekura Park Meteorological Station; altitude 100 ft.) The month began with calm and warm summer weather lasting till the Bth, when heavy westerly rain was registered. Seven fine days witli steady temperature followed. Torrential rain (nearly Sin.) fell on the 18th, since which date heavy rains were registered on seven days. High temperatures with sultry days and nights continued throughout the month, A slight earthquake occurred at 10.30 u.in. on the lOtli. Thunder occurred on the 23rd, 2tltli and 28th. Cloudiness ranged from one on 14 days to 10 on three sunless days. Following are the records of the month:— Maximum thermometer, 71deg. on 2nd, S3deg. on 7th. Minimum thermometer, 34deg. on 27th, GSdeg. on Bth. Maximum wet bulb, 61deg. on loth, 62dc*g. on 27th. Minimum wet bulb, SCdeg. on 15th, 62deg. on 7th. Terrestrial thermometer (Sin. from grass). f>4deg. on 18 days, (!2deg. on 7th. Solar radiator (sun's heat). 159dcg. on 2"ith, lfnideg. on 7Ui. Sunshine recorder, fimin. on 23rd, 13 hours 4r>min. on 14th. Total for month, 2G(i hours ,'lniin. The ISth, 24th and 2Gth were sunless days. Rain, fell on i2 days, 10 points (100 to inch) on 28th, 473 points oil ISth. Total for month, 10.24 in. Wind. X. 3, N'.K. 2, S. 5, S.'.V. 7, W. 7. The 3rd. 4tli, iiili. Oth and 10th were calm days. The month was free from storm winds.
