ITie House of Commons unanimously carried the second reading of the Labor (Party's Bill enfranchising women similarly to men. This moans the reduction* of the age of qualification fov women voters from 30 to 21 years and adds five million voters to the register. The Bill extending the franchise providea that residents shall bo the sole qualification. It abolishes the separate vote based on occupation of business premises. Opponents pointed out that the measure will give women an excess of 562,000 votes. Lady Aator asked: "Why not? The women of Britain outnumber the men." Dr. Addison regarded the Bill doubtfully. The Government will propose amendments during the committee stage.
