TRAGEDY AT WAITARA.
DEAD BODY FOUND IN SANDHILLS.. The body of a man in an advanced state of decomposition was found on morning by a Maori boy, named Joe Huia, in the lupins on the beach at Waitura, about 100 yards from the bathing shed, on the west side of the. h'iver. The) boy noticed an unusual smell as he was passing along that portion of the beach, and hisf investigation revealed the gruesome object. Constable Lapotiple was notified, but-it was evening before the hotly could be removed to tho courthouse. Documents found on the body of deceased revealed his identity as that of Gilchrist Urown, who_ arrived in the district from Waiinariuo about tkree months ago, and had been working for the Clifton County Council ]|e became ill and was taken to the Vow Plymouth hospital; and on bis discharge he returned to Waitara and stayed at the Club Hotel till Jan ; •••'■"v 30. when he left, saying he was going to Inplewood. Nothing further was heard of him until the finding of the body on Monday. Deceased is believed to have relatives in the Taieri district, Ota go.
