A circular has been Issued by the Colonial Sugar Company, Australia, calling a special meeting of shareholders to consider a proposal to return to shareholders part of their capital. The circular explains that during the war tlie company subscribed conslderabl3 sums to war loans, and it is now necessary to decide what action should bo taken In regard to the money thus withdrawn from the business. Under normal conditions a large proportion of the money would bo required for extensions and renewals in the Queensland mills, but the political position in that State renders such expenditure impossible. In any case funds will be available far this purpose when the outlook is more stable. The board has therefore decided to advise that £630,000 worth of debentures be' divided amongst tho shareholders as a return of the paid-up capital of the company, being at the rate of £4 for each £2O share.—Aus.-N.Z.
