THE WAIRARAPA MEETING. TARANAKI COMPETITORS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Carterton, Last Night. The twenty-fifth annual meeting of the Wairarapa Ritle Association opened at Papawai to-day. The weather was overcast, and the wind blowing did not affect shooting at the first two ranges. One Hundred and sixtysix entries were received, and all except four accepted- Sergt. Leslie Loveday, the King's Prize winner, is competing, as are most of the former New Zealand champions. A heavy wind was blow'ing from the north-west when the marksmen went down for the Wellington match, and "fish tails" were frequent, with the result that many challenges invariably ended in the marker signalling "Clean target."
