EVIDENCE AT THE INQUIRY. PRAISE FOR~DR. GILRUTH. By Telegraph.—Press Assn— Copyright. Received March 1, 10.5 p.m. Melbourne, March 1. Before the Northern Territory inquiry, Senator Thomas, replying to questions, said no incidents were brought before him while he was Minister for Home Affairs to cause him to alter his good opinion of Dr. Gilruth'. who. perhaps, lacked a little tact in handling men.. He asked Dr. Gilruth's views on a White Australia and on the leasing policy before approaeh'ing him. On both matters Dr. Gilruth gave satisfactory answers. During witness' term as Minister, Dr. GilrUth was loyal to his policy. He said there was no indication of misrule, and he knew of no act of Dr. Gilruth's which was not directed towards the settlement and development of the Territory.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
