MOTOR CYCLING.
NEXT SATURDAY'S MEETING. The handicaps for the motor racing carnival on Saturday next have been declared and published. Each event will be brim full of interest as the winners are well concealed- The southern riders begin to arrive about Wednesday and from then on till Saturday the track will be a busy scene of both the local and southern riders getting used to the course. „ It is very pleasing to note the assistance given by the Taranaki Jockey Club and especially the genial caretaker (Mr. .T. Blewman). It is safe to say that on the race day the track and appointments will be in perfect order and record times will probably be recorded. The energetic secretary (Mr. Towns-ley) has the preliminary details now practically completed, and given fine weather, an excellent day's sport is assured. The responsible positions of judge (Mr. E. T. Whittle), time-keeper (Mr. J. Bennett), starter (Mr. Pat Webster), traflic steward (Mr. R. Bay), and chief steward (Mr- P. E. Stainton) are in capable hands, and this is an assurance of all details working smoothly. To keep things moving merrily the citizens' band will he in attendance. The afternoon tea arrangements will be in the capable hands of Mr. A. Wooller.
