I would like, reported the director, (Mr. Howell) to a meeting of the Wellington Technical College Board of Governors, ''to press upon the attention of the Board the provision of physical training for the girls. The departmental regulations require that physical training should be given to the girls as well lis to the boys, and that this should include, where possible, instruction in swimming and life-saving. So far nothing has been done in this direction except the arrangement for sports on, at most, one afternoon a week, but this requires to be supplemented by definite and skilled physical training if the development 4a to be all round. 1 '
