DR. GITJRUTH'S RECOMMENDATIONS THE QUESTION OF A SALE. By Telejraph —Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Feb. 29, 5.5 p.m. Melbourne, Feb. 28. At the Northern Territory Inquiry, Senator Thomas, who was Minister for Home. Affairs when Br. J. A. Gilruth was appointed Administrator of the Territory, said the then Prime Minister, Mr. Andrew Fisher, recommended Dr. Gilruth during Jus term of office. He regarded Dr. Gilruth as a loyal and capable administrator. Mr. Glynn, a former Minister for Home Affairs, gave evidence that Dr. Gilruth was a man of considerable ability and great energy. Br. Gilruth had asked him whether th,e Government would be prepared to sell the Territory to a chartered' company. Witness did not seriously think of the suggestion, as he was not disposed to revert it to a chartered company at that stage of ita development—Aus-N.Z. Cable As«m.
