MART DAY. Prospects for a successful day at next Saturday's murt for the beneiit of the New Plymouth Public Library are proving brighter every day, and generally speaking, a good response is being made to the appeal for assistance, 'though there is room for much more help, and the smallest offering towards so worthy an object will be gratefully accepted. ' In connection with, the Art Union of Mr. .luim Baillie's water color sketches, it should be stated that the winner of the first prize will have the first choice from the collection, the second prize winner the second choice, and so on. Thii will give each the opportunity to select the picture which pleases most, a matter in which tastes will materially differ. Mr. John Baillio is n skilful artist, with long experience, and lias produced a charming series of pictures of scenes in the neighborhood "! -New Plymouth. No one should fail to lake the chance of obtaining one or more of these views, which will provide lasting pleasure at the small sacrifice of Is per ticket. Even should the luck of the draw go elsewhere, the money will still lie useful in adding to the "attractions of one of the most popular institutions of the town. The pictures were exhibited in Mr. ISaillie's r-tudio on Snturday. where a large number of people inspected them and to whom the subjects made n strong appeal. A good number „f tickets were sold. These pictures will be on view for a few days in the window of the Modem Tailors, Ltd., Devon Street, and tickets will be on sale in the booksellers' shops.
