A leading authority in the metal market attributes' the rlsri In copper to the fact that consumption in America apparently exceeds production, while the Government stocks in Britain and the Continent are almost exhausted. The manufacturers have not covered forwaTd requirements t< any extant and the increased consumption, it appears probable, may lend to an advance in prices, but the big producers are anxious t6 end the artificial restriction of output which has existed so long, ttharefore they may prefer to keep prices at the present level.
