NEW ZEALAND FRUIT.

RECORD CONSIGNMENT- FOR ENGLAND. The fact that the export of fruit from New Zealand, which has been suspended since 1914, is to be resumed, was referred to by the assistant-director of horticulture, Mr. .T. A. Campbell, at a gathering of fruitgrowers. "The position of the industry in regard to export is one that will be determined very largely this year," said Mr. Campbell. "The department has arranged for space for about 00,000 cases on the steamers for England, and for 30,000 Cflses for America. We are confident that the control of space will be more satisfactory than the past methods. My advice States that the Port Caroline will load 10,000 cases of fruit at Wellington for England on Marcli lfltli. Tt lias been decided that the fruit must be in cool store in Wellington by March Ist, and we have arranged to use one or two cliamoers of flip Harbor Board's clioesp store. Mr. CampbMl added that the frr.it would arrive in England when the market was bare.

The Port Caroline's shipment will be by far the largest yet sent to England from ?*B\y Zealand.
