THE WANGANUI MEETING. NOTES ON TO-DAY'S RACES. (By "Moturoa.")' Monday evening's acceptances for the Wanganul meeting were full of rhocks and surprises for ante-post punters, the defection of Arrowsmiijh in particular, and Volo, Marcueteur, Walmatao and Statuette *n a minor degree being particularly distasteful. On 'the whole, the Cuo has filled well with an acceptance of fifteen. All the Sst. division hold their ground, and Uie scratching amonE3t the light-weights will not cause the Club much nain. Kilmoon, Oratress, Client, Kilrush, Maseot, Gazlquo, Snub and Diwky Eve are all in, and the most reliable of the qrowd may be Client, Taiamai and Snub. Punka* whose failures have cost her party a heap of money lately, is engaged, but Melee, Lovematch and Moutoa Ivnnova must command more respect. On track and public, form Client, Taiamai and Melee look as well as anything, but old Snub may surprise the crowd. Arrowsmllh, Wakmatao and Statuette are t-hd most notable absentees frum the Flying Handicap, and tho race between tlie fourteen left In now appears more open. PiJver Link, Hymestra, Acre and Lord Kenllworth sto a fine quartet/te, and Spanner and Chimera have it in them if caught in the mood. Bon Spec looks as well as any of the light-weights, and has made a lot of friends since arriving at Wanganui. Possibly Acre, Hymestira and Bon Spec will be most sought after by double punters. The scratching pen has been freely used in the Stewards' Handicap, but the nine accepted for include good ones llko Borealis and Hosev/reath, Eighteen figure in the Victory Walter Htindl-. cap. and tlio public may find It hard to decide between such smart ones as fJolden Bubble, Stnrland. Pnxorangl and Amberine. Twenty-two hold their ground in the Tetre Hack Handicap, including recent winners like Sfintorini, Dain'iy Step and Ugmont Park. Possibly the winner will come from lower down, in which enso Hepto and Mannish may have to be reckoned wirh, A nice field of eight imny contest, the Westmere Hurdles, and the best conditioned appear to be Movement, Explorer end Coldstrenm. Thirteen are carded for the .Tuvmilo Handicap, and with We I done, Demand, Blackmail and Bestir still In. a fast pace Is assured, The Wirltoi* Hitch Handicap has found six--leen owners sntisfted. and Admyra, War Baby, Amherlne and Hallowvonia look to a)i have chances, The fields are fairly good fill round, and the winners will take some picking. Active, 80-Peep, Demagogue, Bagdad, Snub, Rjbuff. Melee, Kilmoon. Dusky Eve, Lord Kaniiworth, Tiiinmni. Kxplorer, Wishful, Hymestni. Bonnetler. Desire, Hallowvnnia. Bon Spec, Ermine and Wnr Haliy are all an W.'mgamii. and in nct.ive commission. .
