INFLUENZA.
CASES IN TAUANAKT." THE LATEST FIGURES. The infectious diseases bulletin for the week ending February 23rd, shows that during that period seven cases of scarlet fever were notified in the Wellington Health District:—(Waipawa 1, Taranaki 1, Palmerston North I, Wellington i, Wairarapa 2); 15 case* ol diphtheria (WnipaWa 2, • Taranak'i 2, Wanganui 2, Wellington 3, Wairarapa 'i, Nelson 4); four cases of tuberculosis (Waipawa 1, Palmerston North 1, Nelson 2); one case of 'ppliomylltU (Wellington); 3!K) cases of influenza (Waipawa (1, Tarannki 7, Stratford 33 Haweia 03, Patea 104, Wanganuii 70 Palmerston North 21, Wellington 42; Wairarapa 22, Wairau 9, Picton 4; Netcon o); nix eases of pneumonia (H&wera 1, Wellington 4, Wairarapa 1); eight cases of measles (Wanganui I, Wellington 7); and one ease of ophthalmia neonatorum (Waipawa). Of the influenza, cases all were mild. except, one severo and one pneumonic at New Plymouth; one, pnoumonic at Stratford; one pneumonic and one severe in the Hnwera Hospital District; one pneumonic in the Patea district; one severe at Wanganui; one pneumonic and one severe at Palmerston North; one pneumonic at Wellington; and one pneumonic at .Masterton; TotftlpMild, 370; pneumonic, 7; severe, 4. For the previous week the total nutnber of isfluenza eases was 642—mild, ii?2; pneumonic, IS; severe, 8. fn reply to a Times representative, Dr. Watt, district health officer, stated that from what he had seen of the, reports- from all over the Dominion the influenza was steadily decreasing. During the past week nothing at all untoward had happened.
