POTATO EXHIBITION.
It has been thought by many that it is too early for the majority of growers in North Ta.rana.ki to make an exhibit of potatoes at the Horticultural Show, usually held the first week in December. In order to ascertain if a satisfactory display can be made during February, and to encourage and improve potato growing, Messrs. Webster Bros.. New Plymouth, have decided this year to promote, and provide the prize money for, a potato exhibition with competition, under the auspices of the Horticultural Society, but. at no cost to the Society, on the understanding that, should the exhibition be a success, the Soeiety will consider holding a similar show, with possible extensions in the way of other vegetables, next year. It has been decided that, for the inaugural exhibition, no charge shall be maxle for entries or for admission to the exhibition, which will be displayed this year in Webster Bros.'s mart, on Saturday, February 2S- Schedules covering practically all kinds of potatoes may be obtained free from Webster Bros.
