NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING/ I The annual meeting of the New Plymonth Golf Club was held at the Soldiers' Club last evening, there being an attendance of about 25, over which Mr. Robertshaw presided. The balance sheet and the annual report, as already published, were read. The chairman formally moved their adoption. Mr. W. P. Nicoll, in seconding the motion, urged that members should be loyal to their Club. He advocated also that new blood should be infused into the ranks of the committee. In reply to a suggestion that a showerbath should be installed at the links, it was stated that the- water supply was very limited. It was then suggested that a spring-tap should be installed. QUESTION OF FEES. It was suggested that the entrance fee should be re-instated with the proviso that new members taking up debentures should not be liable in this connection. Mr. F. S. Johns considered that the question of entrance fee for the coming year should be waived as an inducement to new members to join the Club. Some members spoke in favor of this, whilst others considered that the fee should be re-imposed, for men who had been playing golf for many years would not mind this, and such a small fee would not prevent many intending golfers from taking up the game. Mr. Johns replied that the entrance fee for new members for this year could be made up by increasing the fees for present members from £3 3s to £4 lis, red.cible to £3 10s if paid before March 31st. Mr. Johns then moved as an amendment that, for the purpose of better discussion later, the reference to the entrance fee in the annual report should be deleted. This was seconded by Mr. Bewley. Mr. Nicoll considered that members who had been playing golf for years should not have to bear the burden at the expense of new members, but if the entrance fees for new members Was reinstated, he would support the other increase. It was then proposed and seconded that_the entrance fee should be £1 Is for men and 10s 6d for ladies. This motion was carried by a small majority. Mr. Johns, who had agreed to omit from ; his motion any reference to the waiving of entrance fees, again moved that fees for playing members should ba raised to £4 lis, reducible to £3 10s if paid before March 31. Mr. Johns' motion was carried. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers was then proceeded with and the following official? were elected: —President: Dr. E. A. Walker; vice-presidents: Dr. Leatham,Messrs R. W. D. Robertson and C. H. Weston; club captain, Mr. Robertshaw; \hoh. secretary, Mr. Austin; treasurer. Mr. F. S. Johns; committee, Messrs S. secretary, Mrs. Gray; committee, Mesdames Johns, Butcher, C. H. Weston, and McQuade. GENERAL. , It was suggested that a social evening should be held in conjunction with the Easter tournament. Mr. Johns, on behalf of Mr. Bailey, of Hawera, asked that" the match between the Wangamii and Taranaki clubs should be made an annual fixture. The date proposed (Labor Day) was considered by the Wangamii Club as too late in the season, and therefore inconvenient. The matter of date was ■left in the hands of the committee to confer with the Wanganui Club.
