FIRE BRIGADES' DEMONSTRATION.
AT ■ STHATFORt* YESTERDAY, TIIO first demonstration of the Taranokl United- Fire Brigades' Association which has been held for five years took place at Stratford yesterday. Thd proceedings commenced in dull, wet weather, but the whole of the programme was successfully carried out. In the afternoon, when the weather cleared slightly, there was a fair attendance of the public, who watched the various competitions with stration and the largeness of tho prize-money, was due to the energy of the tmerabers of tho Stratford Brigade, who were rMponslbte for the arrangements. 1 'The following brigades, were represented: Stratford, Inglewood, Patoa, New-Plymouth, Kaponga, Eltham, Fitzroy, Manata, Hawera and Waltara.' Results:—. - ■ Gilbert Memorial One-Mau Coupling (dry).— Fitzroy 1, New Plymouth A 2, Stratford 3. Time, lmin 24sec. Coupling Practice for Two Men.—Stratford, 1, New Plymouth 2, Waltara 3. Time, 36sec. Hose, Hydrant a,nd Union for Three Men (wet). —Stratford 1, Eltham 2, Fitzroy 3. Time, 39 4-saec. Baby Rescue —St,ratfoTd 1, Hawera 2, New Plymouth 3. Time, 30 1-Csec, j Hose, Reel and Ladder, five men (wet)j Fltaroy 1, Stratford 2, Hawera 3. Time, 1 I mln ISsec. Hose and Hydrant Competition, for Ave mien (wet). —Hawera 1, New Plymouth 2, Fitzroy 3. Time, 31 3-Ssec. Messengers' Event and. Roys under 18 years Competition.—Stratford A 1, Fitzroy 2, Stratford B'3. Time, 43 l-ssec. The' Championship Shield was won ,by tho Strattoffl-Brigade, which gained 44' points. Fitzroy coming second with 35 points, and Nciw: Plymouth third with 33 points. The Shield was formerly heid by Fltzrcj Brigade.
