MOTOR RACING.
At a meeting of the Star Motor Club a letter was read .from Mr. Coleman, the New Zealand champion track rider, stating his willingness to try and lower his own world's record, failing which lie will given, good exhibition of speed work, as the machine which he has just brought with him from America is capable of a speed of a 100 miles per hour. Delegatos from the Hawera Olub were the guests of the local Club during the week-end, when much valuable work was done. Commenting on the New Plymouth race track, the Hawera riders stated it will prove to be the best track for fast corner work in Taranaki, and under the capable management of Mr. Blewman, the custodian, the surface can be made all that can be desired, so there will he "some very fast riding put up, The secretary reports having entries from all the' best riders, including Coleman, Mngham, Sweeney, GnisTord, Clarringbold. Sykes and Sutherland. As will be seen from the advertisement appearing on our front page the Egmont Motor Cycle Club's races will be helcl on the Hawera Bacecouvse on Wednesday, March 10. The prize money (£130) Is the largest offered by any club in the Dominion, upon which the Hawera Club k to be heartily congratulated when it is considered that this is only the club's second meetifig. Those who wore present at last year's meeting will remember With pleasure the exciting finishes and general excellent management of the meeting. Intending competitors should note that entries close with the secretary, Mr. V. Patterson, on Saturday, March 10.
