REPATRIATION.

NEW PLYMOUTH COMMITTEE. A meeting of the New Plymouth Repatriation Committee \vas" held last evening. Present: Messrs. C. H Weston (chairman), C. H. Chaney, T Furlong. F- W. Okev, C. Carter, R. The executive's action in recomnionding for approval a loan of £3OO for the purchase of- & lar,ge motor launch was confirmed, as was also its action in granting an- eS-soldier thirteen months' training as a carpenter. The following were authorised: Payment of, retained subsidy to a farm trainee; the granting of thirteen months' training in motor engineering at a motor garage in respect of two men who had beeia receiving training at the Technical College; the" granting of a sustenance allowance to a, farm. trainee; and the granting of seven months' training in boot-repairing to an ex-soldier who coujd not follow his former avocation. Two furniture loans of £SO each, recommended by the, Wflitara and Opunake committees, were'approved. The unemployment register showed that there were three men wanting any sort of light Work, one required work with a surveyor, two others clerical and' farming work respectively. Another applicant Was prepared to tackle any job offering. The secretary reported upon the steps being taken to find the applicants employment..
