EXPLOITING THE DAIRY FACTORY EMPLOYEE.
To the Editor. Sir.—The letter from the pen of "Cheddar" will be read by land speculators, farmers, and 'dairy factory employees alike. The land speculator, undtft tho name of Farmer, is creating a position that must eventually bring a crash. Not only in a certain district, but all round the mountain, he is at work profiteering In land deals. And, Sir, it Is the "shut-eyed" employee in the dairy factory that Is helping him. of what use are high land values to Mm, .or high prices? Havo his wages or conditions improved during tho last decade of high I Prices? Did he receive any rise in "screw"? 1 Did the employer pay him any bonus owing to ! the cost of living? No fear. It all goes to swell the price of land, thus placing it out of reach further than ever of the man that would, and Is advised, to sottlo down "Cheddar" and others will find it rather humiliating to find omployees In freezing works, railwaymen, grocers', and artisans' wages rising up to and over, ISs per day, while he sweats on At £3 10s. And look at and compare the houses provided for employees! Pour rooms knocked up anyhow with only a store to provide comfort in the winter; no washhouse, no'copper, sanitary arrangements, or drainage. For sorvlces rendered and loyalty to employers, the dairy factory workers are treated worse, and worse "paid, than any other.—l am, etc., t . , "STILTON." Inglewood, 13ih Feb.
