SEAMEN'S AGREEMENT. By Telegraph.-—Press Association. Wellington, Fob. 14. The new agreement drawn up at the recent Wellington conference between shipowners and the Seamen's Union, having been endorsed by all branches of the union, was signed to-day by representatives of the parties. DEFENCE APPOINTMENTS. f Wellington, Feb- 14. | It is announced that Lieut.-Colonel H. E. Pilkington, R.N.Z.A., who recently returned after service with the Expeditionary Force abroad, has been appointed Staff Officer for the Ordnance services of the Dominion. Major T. M'Christell, Pirector of Equipment and Ordinance stores, has been promoted to Lieut.-Col-onel and appointed Chief Ordnance-Officer for the Dominion. The appointments are the outcome or the decision to place the ordnance services of the Defence Forces on a thoroughly sound and satisfactory footing, so that New Zealand shall never be placed Stgain in the position of 1914, when practically no Ordnance Department existed, aiid so many troops as the result during the war wero sent overseas unequipped. Colonel Pilkington had special training in ordnance work overseas, participating as ordnance officer in the retreat of the sth.Army in Mareh, 1918.
